Developing confident, disciplined, and successful performers.

Competition Work Ballet is an additional specialist training class designed for dedicated dancers who wish to represent JK Ballet in competitions throughout the year.

The programme provides focused coaching to help students develop technical excellence, artistry, confidence, stage presence, and competitive performance skills within a supportive and ambitious environment.

Students benefit from additional coaching, performance preparation, and competition experience while continuing their graded ballet training within the school.

Who Is It For?

Competition Work Ballet is suitable for committed dancers who are eager to challenge themselves and represent the school in ballet competitions.

This class is intended for students who are willing to work hard, demonstrate excellent commitment, and embrace the responsibilities that come with competitive training.

Competition Commitment

Please note that participation in competitions is mandatory for students enrolled in this class.

This class is specifically designed for dancers who intend to compete throughout the year and represent JK Ballet at competitions and performance opportunities.

By enrolling in Competition Work Ballet, students and parents acknowledge their commitment to competition participation, rehearsal requirements, and associated preparation throughout the dance year.

If you are unsure whether this class is suitable for your child, please contact Miss Judith before registering.

Attendance Expectations

Due to the nature of competition preparation, regular attendance is essential.

Students are expected to attend classes consistently and make every effort to attend rehearsals, coaching sessions, and competition-related activities as required.

Frequent absences may affect a student's readiness to compete and participation opportunities.

Competition Selection

Competition entries, categories, choreography allocations, and suitability are determined at the discretion of the teaching team.

This ensures that students are entered appropriately based on age, ability, experience, technical development, and readiness.

What Competition Work Develops

-Advanced performance skills
-Stage presence and confidence
-Musicality and artistry
-Strength, flexibility, and technique
-Resilience and determination
-Goal setting and achievement
-Teamwork and sportsmanship
-Professional presentation standards
-Appearance & Uniform Standards

Students enrolled in Competition Work Ballet are expected to maintain exceptionally high standards of presentation at all times.

This includes:

-Wearing the correct regulation uniform
-Hair styled according to teacher requirements for classes, rehearsals, and competitions
-Maintaining a neat, professional appearance at all school events and competitions
-Following all uniform and presentation guidelines issued by the school

Students represent both themselves and JK Ballet whenever they attend competitions, and high presentation standards form an important part of competitive training.

Competition Conduct

Students enrolled in Competition Work Ballet are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour, respect, sportsmanship, and professionalism at all times.

When attending competitions, dancers represent both themselves and JK Ballet and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the school.

Students are expected to support fellow dancers, respect adjudicators and organisers, and contribute positively to the team environment that we work hard to create.

Competition Fees

Competition entry fees are not included within class fees and are payable separately throughout the year.

Families will be advised of competition costs in advance of entries being submitted.

Competition Costumes

-Competition costumes are not included in class fees.
-Parents are responsible for purchasing competition costumes as required.
-All costumes must be approved by Miss Judith prior to purchase. Families must consult with the teacher before ordering any costume to ensure suitability, consistency, and compliance with competition requirements.
-Further guidance regarding costumes will be provided throughout the year.

School Tracksuit

To align with other competitive dance schools, all Competition Work Ballet students are required to wear the JK Ballet school tracksuit when travelling to and from competitions.

This promotes a strong sense of team identity, professionalism, and school pride while ensuring dancers are presented consistently as representatives of JK Ballet.

Further information regarding tracksuit ordering will be provided upon enrolment.
